Can You Remember What Makes You Strong?
Is there a time in your younger life that you remember doing something that still reminds you NOW how STRONG you truly are?
As opposed to following a traditional seder on Zoom- as if that’s even traditional- my family allowed me to take the lead for a night of storytelling. This question was our theme. As we face uncertain times, it’s important that the children know exactly what strength is made of.
Grandma Ada shared of being in the Peace Corps at 21 and driving an open-roof Jeep on muddy roads in the rain.
Cousin Jaime remembers the fear she overcame telling her parents she was going to become an actress and move to LA.
12-year-old Zoe remembers just two days ago when she succeeded at a baking a new recipe and felt her confidence surge.
11-year-old Jessica took two street cats in even though her dad said she’d never tame them, but she did.
Saba Jim remembers having to push himself all the time as a child because he was so terribly shy.
Teenage Lyla remembers the choice she made to surround herself with people who exude kindness.
Zachary didn’t think he’d be able to pack up his room by himself a week ago when his family moved homes, but he did.
Tamara remembers the moment she administered her first IV with no guidance.
Auntie Elana was told by her soccer coach when she was 12 that if she scored 2 goals in the 3rd quarter of the game she wouldn’t have to play goalie in the 4th, and I did!!
Each and every one of us has moments that may seem small, but ultimately become reminders of who we truly are and what we are truly made of.
