Chocolate, Tahini & Sea Salt Matzah Bark
When Moses brought the Hebrews out of Egypt into the Promised Land, this is exactly what he had in mind. The combination of chocolate and tahini is equivalent to manna from heaven.
Consider matzah a vehicle for whatever you want to stick in your mouth sans silverware. For me, it is chocolate (and lots of it) mixed with coconut oil and the earthy, nutty flavor of tahini which is sort of like peanut butter. If you like peanut butter cups, you’ll like this. Think you don’t like tahini? Have you tried it with chocolate?
Only takes three minutes to make, 30 minutes or so to set in the freezer and approximately one second to devour.
If you don’t have tahini, you can top the chocolate mixture with sliced almonds, coconut shreds or anything you like. Just don’t omit the sea salt.
Watch me make it here.
Serving size: suitable for one cookie monster
INGREDIENTS:
1 piece of matzah or gluten-free matzah
1 ounce of quality dark chocolate- more is ok
1 teaspoon coconut oil (olive oil will work too)
2 teaspoons tahini
Sea salt for sprinkling (kosher salt will do)
DIRECTIONS:
Place a piece of matzah on some parchment paper or even a paper bag. This is to prevent a mess more than anything.
Let a small pan get warm over medium heat for a few minutes.
Add chocolate and coconut oil. Let melt, being careful it doesn’t burn.
Use a silicone brush or whatever you have to spread the chocolate on the matzah.
Drip the tahini on the chocolate. Then use a spoon to swirl the tahini into the chocolate.
Sprinkle on the sea salt.
Freeze the matzah. You can first break it apart and put it in a container. You can put it on a plate with a light covering that doesn’t touch the chocolate. Don’t stress it, just freeze it.
Tell Elijah it’s not for him and eat it yourself!
